A Brief History
A distinguished historic residence, listed among Italy’s national monuments, where history has made its entrance leaving important memories and testimonies.
Villa Cambiaso is a classic, elegant example of Genoese residential architecture, very fashionable in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
Owned by several noble families, it was purchased by the Colonna family on the advice of Napoleon Bonaparte. The richly frescoed palace preserves a consecrated chapel where Pope Pius VII used to celebrate Mass. In the main entrance there is a fountain attributed to Bernini, and the piano nobile was the setting for the gala lunch stop of Benito Mussolini. The rear of the palace is surrounded by an elegant Italian garden of 2,500 m².
